Bret and I (and I think Anish was invited) attended the invitation-only âThreats to Standardsâ Summit yesterday hosted by the Five-I community (governments of US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand who are treaty-bound in the intelligence
community). OASIS did get briefly mentioned and there were problems discussed (declining corporate participation in standards in general) and potential solutions kicked around (with the summit itself being one of gov solutions, albeit it was basically preaching
to the choir given their audience of standards geeks who support those governments). They may have another summit in the future. If they do, I suggest we try to get Frances included on the invite list, and we maybe strategize ahead of time on potential opportunities
for OASIS. Bret and I should probably have a followup meeting with Frances and Carol about potential opportunities from yesterday.
