Subject: Re: [chairs] public comments, and mail subscriptions
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 / "Karl F. Best" <karl.best@oasis-open.org> was heard to say: | We've implemented the public comments web form that I had previously | mentioned. There's a new button on the top of each TC's public web | page for "Send a Comment". Clicking this opens up a form where the | person can enter his email address and a comment, which will then be | sent to the TC's comment list. I see. Unfortunately, you've also opened a hole into which spammers can throw things[1]. And there are plenty of spamming spiders out there smart enough to do so. | For now the comments are unmoderated, and the form won't verify the | email address. If we see misuse of the web forms we'll consider | implementing some sort of protections. Please disable the form or moderate the input. And can I suggest that you allow authors to set the subject field? Having dozens of messages with the subject "Public Comment" is going to be tedious. And the threading doesn't work very well for the either.
