Hope you haven't been caught as I have. I. The actual id in question doesn't exist 2. The id exists, but isn't an ID (i.e. defined in the DTD as an ID) (i.e. is a plain text attribute which happens to be named id). - boy is that infuriating. Norm, could you tweak the error message to 'suggest' that its either one or the other? HTH DaveP
