The internal subset is the set of DTD declarations, be they element, attribute, or entity, between the [ and the ]]> in the DOCTYPE declaration. This is as opposed to the external subset which is the set of DTD declarations located in the resource referred to by the PUBLIC and/or SYSTEM identifiers.
