Each slide has fairly 'simple' content model, so don't get too greedy with what is included (it would make a bad presentation anyway) I would suggest that you decide on what level you want to split into slides, and then generate a transform from that level (say sect2 or something) into a slide. Keep your source in nice clean docbook.... and generate your slides..... then throw them away, don't start with slides and return to docbook? That would be my advice anyway.
