If you don't know where you are then it's tricky to do word wrapping. . . Have you tried "links" (as opposed to "lynx")? Take a look at something like ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/doc/en/books/faq/book.txt.gz to get a feel for the output quality.
