Subject: In response on ODF and XAdES signatures (2)
Dear Mr Jolliffe, I am writing on behalf of the OASIS DSS-X TC in response to your email of 14th August 2008. First of all, the DSS-X TC wants to thank you for the submission of the aforementioned email. From the review of the specific questions that you include in your email, it is the opinion of this TC that questions #1, #2, #3 and #5 actually are more related to the XAdES standard itself than to the DSS profile for managing generation and verification of XAdES sigantures produced by this committee. It is the opinion of this TC that ETSI Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures (ESI) Committee is the suitable body to answer them. As for question #4, as you notice, DSS produced and DSS-X is producing a number of profiles for matching the DSS core standard to specific environments or to incorporate new features. The DSS set of standards also allow to combine different profiles incorporating additional features for obtaining more powerfullness. This approach allows to incorporate in the core a set of basic yet relevant features, and still allowing that those systems requiring additional ones may make use of the profiles. On behalf of the DSS-X TC I would like to thank you again for approaching us. Please feel free to contact us again if you consider it worth in the future. With best regards Juan Carlos Cruellas on behalf of the DSS-X TC
