Hi Ernst Jan, thank you for your view! A downside of this approach is the ordering of profile-specifics. If there are more than one profile with additional Optionals involved, the ordering of the profile-related elements is unclear (core, profile 1, profile2 or core, profile2, profile1). We should add a comment regarding this aspect. XML is not json and vice versa :-) so I expect that xml developers will benefit from a more straightforward structure...
