Subject: RE: [egov] Justice XML Data Model
OASIS approved XML specifications exist for person and address and other personal/company entities. It is unfortunate that these standards are not re-used in the Global Justice Information Sharing Inititaive and instead, it has been re-invented. This is where interoperability will fail. I know that it is not easy to agree on a common standard for a specific entity like Name and Address across various govt. sectors (eg. Justice, Health, Election services, etc), but this is where the challenge is for eGov. to make it happen. I have for quite sometime being advocating the re-use of XML specifications developed by OASIS within OASIS TCs in the first instance that will atleast help achieve interoperability within OASIS TCs if not outside of OASIS.
