Subject: [FWD: US Revocation of Executive Order 13011]
On Friday, the White House announced it was revoking Executive Order 13011 of 1996 that has governed IT management in the government, including the promotion of standards in IT procurement. See http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/05/20060512-5.html . It's not clear what the impact on IT standards work in USA could be? Also - does anyone have any thoughts as to the needs / changes being addressed in revoking this order? A copy of E.O. 13011 is found on the NIST Web site, at http://csrc.nist.gov/fasp/FASPDocs/personnel-sec/federal_it_jul_1996.html. Not sure if OASIS should care about this or not! Thanks, DW
