Last Call: Vote on the SAML and ebXML CPPA specs

This is a reminder that voting to approve the SAML and ebXML CPPA specs
as OASIS Standards ends on 31 October. The voting representative of each
OASIS member organization has received the Call For Vote with
instructions for voting. As members of OASIS, please remind the voting
representative for your organization to cast a ballot as specified in
the Call For Votes.

OASIS to Advance PKI Adoption

On 1 Nov, PKI Forum will become the newest OASIS Member Section. PKI
Forum (http://www.pkiforum.org/) fosters support for standards-based,
interoperable public-key infrastructure (PKI) as a foundation for secure
transactions in e-business applications. Members of OASIS will be
eligible to participate fully in the work of PKI Forum--at no additional
cost. PKI Forum will hold their quarterly conference in Dallas, 5-7 Nov.
All OASIS members are invited to attend this event free-of-charge. See

Coming Soon: XML.org Focus Areas

In November, OASIS will launch XML.org Focus Areas, micro-sites within
XML.org that will showcase sectors in which XML is making the greatest
impact. Initial plans call for XML.org Focus Areas for Insurance, Human
Resources, Printing/Publishing, Security, Defense, Financial Services,
and Localization. Specific Focus Area sponsorships are available to

OASIS Members, Entrust, DataPower, IONA, NIST, webMethods, TIBCO,
Verisign, and Others Collaborate on Digital Signature Services

On 24 October, the Consortium publicly announced the formation of the
OASIS Digital Signature Services Technical Committee that will work to
develop open XML protocols for digital signature and cryptographic
timestamping services. This new TC will enable Web services to produce
and verify digital signatures and provide techniques for proving that a
given signature was created within its private key validity period.
