UIML at OASIS

A Call for Participation has been issued for the new OASIS User
Interface Markup Language (UIML) Specification Technical Committee.
The UIML TC will develop a specification for an abstract meta-language
that can provide a canonical XML representation of any
user interface (UI).

LegalXML Member Section Adds an Online Dispute Resolution TC

A Call for Participation has been issued for the new OASIS LegalXML
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Technical Committee. The OdrXML mission
is to develop open XML standards for the markup of information and
documents used in online dispute resolution systems.

OASIS WS-Security and SAML nominated for Prestigious Award

OASIS is pleased to announce that WS-Security and SAML are being
considered as finalists for the 2002 PC Magazine Awards for Technical
Excellence. This award recognizes those people and/or products that have
advanced the state of technology and set new standards for technical
innovation. The awards will be presented on 18 November, 2002 at Comdex
Fall in Las Vegas, Nevada. Congratulations to the members of the OASIS
SS TC and the OASIS WSS TC.

OASIS Staff Receive Promotions

Congratulations to OASIS staff members, Karl Best and Scott McGrath, who
have been promoted in recognition of their outstanding contributions and
job performance. Karl Best takes on additional responsibilities as Vice
President, and Scott McGrath as Director of Member Services for OASIS.

5-7 Nov--PKI Forum will hold their quarterly conference in Dallas.

12-13 Nov--Patrick Gannon will present the keynote, "The Global Market

13-14 Nov--Pim van der Eijk, OASIS European Representative, will make a
presentation at Forum XML e-Business Integration, Paris, France.

20 Nov--Karl Best will be presenting "The Global Interoperable Internet
