Summary
-----------

The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.0 OASIS Standard was approved in April 2004 to provide a standard message format for emergency
alert and notifications to be packaged and sent in an XML format. The OASIS Emergency Management Technical Committee is now proud to
announce the first revision to CAP. Several important changes have been made as a result of real-world implementation by
participating groups, including the addition of the responseType element (to recommend specific life-saving measures to be taken in
the event of an emergency) and the derefURI element (to include the contents of a web page in situations where real-time retrieval
of the web page is not practical).
