OASIS Unstructured Operation Markup Language TC Forms

Members of OASIS have organized a TC to develop the Unstructured
Operation Markup Language (UOML). The OASIS UOML TC will define and
develop an open, XML-based operation standard for unstructured
documents. The TC is convened by Alex Wang of Sursen Co. The TCs first
meeting will be a teleconference on January 16.

Committee Submits OpenDocument v1.1 for Consideration as OASIS Standard

The OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument)
TC has submitted OpenDocument v1.1 to be considered as an OASIS
Standard. OpenDocument defines an XML schema for office applications and
its semantics. Version 1.0 of OpenDocument was approved as an OASIS
Standard in May 2005 and as ISO/IEC 26300 in May 2006. On 16 January, a
Call For Vote on version 1.1 will be issued to all OASIS member
organizations.

Review ebXML Deployment Profile Templates

The OASIS ebXML Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance (IIC)
TC has approved a number of ecXML Deployment Profile Templates as
Committee Drafts and submitted the package for public review. The
deployment profile templates enables user communities to specify their
use of the ebXML BPSS, CPPA, and Message Service specifications. The
review ends 7 March.

Review SAML-related specifications

The OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC has approved multiple SAML-related
specifications as Committee Drafts and submitted the package for public
review. The specifications relate to shared credentials, text-based
challenge response, and X.500 Attribute Profile. The review ends 7 March.

Reveiw WS-BPEL v2.0

The OASIS Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WSBPEL) TC
has approved the Web Services Business Process Execution Language
WS-BPEL v2.0 specification set as a Committee Draft and submitted the
package for public review. WS-BPEL defines a language for specifying
business process behavior based on Web services. The review ends 22
January.

Review XLIFF v1.2

The OASIS XML Localization Interchange File Format (XLIFF) TC has
approved the XLIFF v1.2 specification set as a Committee Draft and
submitted the package, which includes several supporting non-normative
specifications, for public review.  XLIFF  describes the interchange of
localisable software and documentbased objects and related metadata. The
review ends 20 January.

OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC Approves IPR Transition

Members of the OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC have voted to adopt the
"RF on RAND" Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) mode for their work. As
defined in the OASIS IPR Policy, "RF on RAND" operates in the same
manner as RAND, however, it does not permit the patent holder to charge
fees or royalties for the license.

OGC Announces Adoption of ebRIM Metamodel for Catalogues

The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC)  announced that is has
selected the ebXML Registry Information Model (ebRIM) OASIS Standard as
the preferred cataloguing metamodel foundation for future application
profiles of the OpenGIS Catalogue Service Web (CS-W) specification. CS-W
defines the information required to support discovery and search for
data and services, and ebRIM provides the requirements to support
registration of services such as those specified in many OGC standards,
as well as geospatial data and other resources. The OGC is an
international industry consortium of more than 335 companies, government
agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a
consensus process to develop publicly available interface
specifications.
