OASIS News 9 September 2005 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS FWSI TC Submits Specs for Public Review The OASIS Framework for Web Services Implementation (FWSI) TC has approved the FWSI Functional Elements Specification v1.0 and FWSI Web Service Implementation Guidelines v1.0 for public review. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments on these documents, designed to define methods and functional components for broad, multi-platform, vendor-neutral cross-industry implementation of Web services. Comments must be received by 31 Oct. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200509/msg00002.html ------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS UBL TC Forms Procurement and Transportation Subcommittees The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC has formed two new subcommittees (SC). The OASIS UBL Procurement SC will maintain definitions of UBL semantics or conceptual models as they relate to the context of procurement, and will be chaired by Mark Leitch of the UK Office of Government Commerce. The OASIS UBL Transportation SC will maintain definitions of semantics or conceptual models as they relate to the context of transportation. His primary responsibility will be to grow participation in OASIS technical committees, and he welcomes suggestions and input from all members. Peter spent ten years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he managed systems development and operations for Project Athena and led the MIT ECAT initiative, which developed the world's first B2B electronic commerce project. Peter also helped define the Open Buying on the Internet (OBI) standard and served as the first executive director of the OBI Consortium.
