Subject: ODF Adoption Technical Committee Meeting Notes, Meeting of June 13th, 2006
Roll Call ========= Alan Milnes, IBM Erwin Tenhumberg, Sun Microsystems Timothy Vaverchak, ITD, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Gary Edwards, ODF Alliance Marino Marcich, Software and Information Industry Association Roger Hurwitz, Intel Martha Mealy, IBM Donglin Wang, Sursen The meeting was not quorate so no formal decisions were taken. ODF Logo ======== Marino asked for current status. In the absence of any OASIS Staff the position was unclear. Marino explained that many companies were requesting logos - Marino would forward some requests to Erwin so he could see what types of requests they were. Logo was connected to conformance and needed to be carefully managed. Progress on deliverables ======================== a) ODF presentation Erwin had some slides from Sun and IBM and was just clarifying whether he could distribute it. b) White paper content Erwin had distributed an initial draft of the White Paper and invited comments via email. Martha would use some of this content on the history of ODF to update Wikipedia. c) XML.org focus area Two sponsors signed up and editorial board being formed. Roger would discuss with Carol. News/updates about ODF efforts in France ======================================== Deadline for comments was 15th June, many ODF Alliance members were commenting as were the Alliance themselves. The Alliance would be publishing an open letter on their web site. OpenOffice.org Conference update ================================ Close to 90 submissions including a number of ODF related so there should be a track. Once the Agenda was published we should consider having a face to face meeting at the conference. Recent events/news ==================== Erwin had read a news item which indicated that Microsoft would provide an ODF download for Office. Erwin would send a link to Marino. Donglin Wang had joined the call but had to drop off. It was felt a discussion with him next time he joined would be productive. There were some concerns over the work Sursen were doing which was especially the way metadata was stored separately. Roger offered to set up a call with one of his Chinese engineers and any interested parties. This would have to be approx 5pm Pacific time to accommodate the time difference. The meeting was adjourned at this stage.
