Subject: RE: [odf-adoption] TC blogs on XML.org
As a possible extra incentive, please let chairs know that I will post a link in OASIS News to every Committee blog they post. --carol -----Original Message----- From: Carol Geyer [mailto:carol.geyer@oasis-open.org] Sent: Thursday, October 11, 2007 12:36 PM To: 'odf-adoption@lists.oasis-open.org' Subject: RE: [odf-adoption] TC blogs on XML.org The first step on TC/SC blogs is to issue the invitation to the chairs (probably just repeat and expand on what I wrote below). Can Don or Erwin do that on behalf of the Committee? It might carry extra weight coming from a co-chair. Of course, if any ODF Adoption Committee members also serve on the Spec TC or its SubCommittees, they may want to take on the official blogger role. --c -----Original Message----- From: robert_weir@us.ibm.com [mailto:robert_weir@us.ibm.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 3:32 PM To: Carol Geyer Cc: odf-adoption@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: Re: [odf-adoption] TC blogs on XML.org I think nagging them might be the best way to accomplish this. Just say that every TC or SC chair or co-chair is being asked to contribute one blog entry or short article per month to opendocument.xml.org. Then make up a schedule and remind/nag them as their dates approach. We have 5 different committees, and with co-chairs probably 8 different people we can tap. So we could even make it every other months for people and still have new content each week. Or try to stick to a 4-week rotation and get two updates/week. I'd also like to see if we could do get different individuals to sign up for "Forum Duty", maybe for one week at a time. The job would be to monitor the Forum for questions and track down someone to respond from the various ODF TC's/SC's. Yes,I know ideally we'd all be monitoring it every day, but that doesn't seem to be happening yet. We need to somehow bootstrap the process. I think this would be terrific way to bring fresh content to the site and give people a look at what's going on inside our committees. The chairs could blog about work that's underway, issues being discussed, recap of meetings, acknowledgement of new members and of contributions from existing members, appeals for input or for new participation from people with specific expertise... It wouldn't have to be extensive or formal, just as long as it was done on a regular basis--once a month or after meetings or whatever. Do you have a plan underway to reach out to the chairs on this? _________________________________ Carol Geyer Director of Communications OASIS +1.978.667.5115 x209 Register now for the Open Standards Forum: "Enabling Transformational Government Through Web Services and SOA" 29-30 Oct 2007 * London http://events.oasis-open.org/home/forum/2007 <http://events.oasis-open.org/home/forum/2007>
