Hi Erwin,
This is a good idea. Maybe also a link to the
ISV paper when we have that.

Erwin,
This is an excellent idea!
I might suggest adding something along the lines of "There is no cost
to list
your product on OpenDocument XML.org", just so they don't think we're
trying to
sell them something.
If I am copied on these messages (carol.geyer@oasis-open.org), I can follow
up
and be sure the recipients don't have any questions or problems with
registering or posting. I can also remind them of the other ways they can
promote their work on the site (post press releases, events, links to company
white papers, etc.)
Carol

Subject: [odf-adoption] Standard "invitation letter" for ODF
implementors
Hi all,
Over the last few days I noticed a couple of software products
to which ODF support had been added in the latest version. Examples are:
DataDirect XQuery
http://www.datadirect.com/products/xquery/index.ssp
deskUNPDF
http://www.docudesk.com/deskUNPDF_product_home.shtml
EMS SQL Manager for SQL Server
http://www.sqlmanager.net/en/products/mssql/manager/features
We all know that our opendocument.xml.org site could be more interesting
and more up-to-date. During a phone call with Michael Brauer today, he
reminded me that all those solutions should be listed on
opendocument.xml.org. However, we also both agreed that it's better
if the various companies add and maintain the entries themselves.
Therefore I'm wondering if we should have some kind of standard
invitation letter / email that anyone of us can send to one of those
companies as soon as we discover a new application. What do you think?
The letter could be something like:
To whom it may concern,
I am a member of the OpenDocument Format (ODF) Adoption TC at OASIS
and I just noticed that your product XYZ supports ODF.
Thank you very much for supporting ODF! Your company is joining the
growing list of vendors and organizations supporting the ISO and OASIS
standard XML document format.
In order to help us promote your product and its ODF support
I would like to invite you to add an entry for your product to the
product listing at http://opendocument.xml.org/products.
In case the ODF support in your product is of strategic nature to your
company, I also would like to invite you to join the ODF Adoption TC.
You can find more information about the ODF Adoption TC at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=odf-adoption
Thank you very much and kind regards,
<your name>
OASIS OpenDocument Format (ODF) Adoption TC Member
Again, what do you think about the idea and the draft letter?
Thanks,
Erwin
