Subject: ODF Podcast: Take 1
I did an interview session with in at the Granada Plugfest with Svante Schubert, from the ODF TC and the ODF Toolkit Union. Discussion about ODF, RDF, ODFDOM, etc. From 15 minutes of material I edited it down to around 10 minutes, or 5MB. Right now the beginning and ending is just ambient cafeteria noise. I could shorten that, maybe put in some theme music, if we can find something royalty free, that fades down to just a few seconds of the ambient noise and then into the interview. I think that is typical. We could also try to knock out the background noise altogether and make it sound like it is from a studio, but it is a location interview, so I don't think we need to hide that fact, unless anyone thinks the noise is distracting. Also, I recorded in only one channel. Since most people will listen stereo we have a few options, including sending the sound as-is to both channels, or "centering" the sound so it sounds like it is focused in the middle of the field. In any case, this is an example of what the art of the possible is with the kind of equipment I can easily carry around to conferences. We might try one as well using Skype and see how they compare.
