Subject: Proposal for a baseline alignement of frames.
Dear TC members, the ODF specification already has the two attributes style:vertical-pos and style:vertical-rel that specify how frames (text boxes, embedded objects, etc.) are positioned (sections 15.27.11 and 15.27.12). For frames that are bound as character (i.e. that are considered to be a character in the text flow by the layout, rather than as a frame that appears outside the text flow), there is already an option to align the top center or bottom of the frame with the baseline of the surrounding text. What is missing however is an option to align the baseline of the frame (if it has one) with the baseline of the surrounding text. This is often requested for embedded formulas. For this reason, I'm proposing to add a new "baseline" value to the "style:vertical-pos" attribute specified in section 15.27.11. It description shall be as follows: "baseline" specifies that the baseline of the frame is aligned with the baseline of the related area. "baseline" is only supported by frames that are anchored as character. If the frame does not have a baseline, "baseline" behaves like "bottom".
