Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-3878) ADDRESS function appears to be specified for values not satifying the constraints.

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-3878?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=72041#comment-72041 ]

Regina Henschel commented on OFFICE-3878:
-----------------------------------------

Constraints: Row>=1, Column>=1, 1<=Abs<=4

Semantics: Returns a cell address (reference) as text. The text does not include the surrounding [...] of a reference.
 If a _Sheet_ name is given, the resulting text starts with that name, followed by a separator, followed by the column/row reference, otherwise only the column/row reference is returned without separator.
 The separator is the character "." (dot U+002E) in case _A1_ is TRUE and the character ! (exclamation mark U+0021) in case _A1_ is FALSE. For interoperability evaluators may use the character ! as separator in case _A1_ is TRUE or omitted. In that case evaluators shall correctly parse the ! as sheet name separator in the function INDIRECT in case its second parameter is TRUE or omitted.
 The value of _Abs_ determines if the column and/or row is absolute or relative as listed in Table 21.
 The value of _A1_ determines the style of the column/row reference. In case _A1_ is TRUE or omitted the A1 reference style is used, in case _A1_ is FALSE the R1C1 reference style is used.

Â

ToDo: Add definitions (where?) of that reference styles including the meaning of $ and the meaning of [number] respectively.

:(ÂI cannot put ! in quotes in this editor.

> The definition of the openformula function ADDRESS says:
> Constraints: Row >= 1, Column >= 1, 1 <= Abs <= 4; A1 = TRUE(). Evaluators may evaluate expressions that do not meet the constraint A1 = TRUE().
> In the semantics section, the format is also described for A1 = FALSE(). It is not clear what the status of that specification is: If an evaluator evaluates an expression with A1 = FALSE(), is that evaluator required to follow the description given?
