Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-4009) <presentation:show-text> - Visibility of shape?

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-4009?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=72394#comment-72394 ]

Regina Henschel commented on OFFICE-4009:
-----------------------------------------

As far as I know, this kind of animations are not used in LibreOffice. It converts such animations to SMIL animation on opening a document, which has such animation. Thorsten as expert for Impress should know.

You can examine such animations in OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 in its .sxi format. In my experiments I have found, that the shape is not visible before any effect, only in case <presentation:hide-shape presentation:effect="hide"/> it goes from visible to invisible.

If an effect <presentation:show-text> is defined, but no <presentation:show-shape> effect for the same shape, then the shape simple appears and then the text effect is running. If a <presentation:show-shape> effect for the same shape is defined, then first the shape becomes visible with its effect and then the text becomes visible with the text effect. If only a <presentation:show-shape> effect is defined for the shape, then the effect is done on text and shape together, where in case the effect is divided in single paragraphs the shape is divided too.

For "hide" OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 does only support the effect "hide". Because that happens immediately, I cannot tell anything about the order.

I wonder, if any ODF producer generates an <presentation:animations> element. Instead of fixing wording problems, it might be reasonable to deprecate the element.

> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: ODF 1.3

> Priority: Minor
>
> 10.8.4 reads:
> The <presentation:show-text> element defines an effect that makes text within a shape visible. Prior to execution of the effect defined by this element the shape and the text it contains are invisible.
> Francis (Cave) asks: Is the shape as well as the text invisible prior to the execution of the effect? Given that the effect only makes the text visible, I'd have assumed that the shape itself was not affected.
> 10.8.3Â The <presentation:show-shape> element specifies when and how a shape becomes visible.
> Prior to execution of the effect defined by this element the shape containing it is invisible.
> So shouldn't the shape be visible and the text visible/invisible based on the effect defined by <presentation:show-text>?
