Subject: chart:data-source-has-labels

Hi Members,

for tomorrow:

The <chart:plot-area> element (11.5) has the deprecated attributes chart:data-source-has-labels (19.17 in ODF 1.3) and table:cell-range-address (19.597.6 in ODF 1.3).

The attribute table:cell-range-address (19.597.6 in ODF 1.3) is removed in ODF 1.4. with OFFICE-3741.

Suggestion:
a) Remove chart:data-source-has-labels attribute (19.17 in ODF 1.3) too
b) Use OFFICE-4134 to track this.

Reasoning: The chart:data-source-has-labels attribute is already deprecated in ODF 1.2, see OFFICE-3326. The attribute is only defined in relationship to the now deleted table:cell-range-address attribute (19.597.6 in ODF 1.3).

======================================

These two attributes were used to determine an ersatz for a missing or incomplete <chart:categories> element (11.10).

Current text in 11.10:
The <chart:categories> element represents labels that are displayed on a category-axis. This element may have a table:cell-range-address attribute that specifies a range from which category labels are taken. If this attribute or the <chart:categories> element itself is omitted, the chart:data-source-has-labels attribute of the <chart:plot-area> element should be evaluated for labels to display on a category-axis.

Because both, the element <chart:categories> and its only attribute table:cell-range-address, are optional, we need to specify a new ersatz.

Suggestion for 11.10:
The <chart:categories> element represents labels that are displayed on a category-axis. If the <chart:categories> element itself or its attribute table:cell-range-address (19.597.2) is omitted, the numbers 1, 2, 3, â may be used as labels.

LibreOffice and Excel use numbers 1, 2, 3, â as labels on the axis in such case. Google shows no labels. Can please someone with Linux test, what Gnumeric does in such case? A test file is attached.

======================================

The current text in 19.597.2 is:
The table:cell-range-address attribute specifies the source from which the category labels are taken. If this attribute or the <chart:categories> element is omitted the chart:data-source-has-labels 19.17 attribute of the <chart:plot-area> 11.5 element should be evaluated.

This too needs to be changed because of the no longer existing attribute chart:data-source-has-labels. Because the ersatz is already described in <chart:categories> element, I think we simply delete the sentence.

Suggestion for 19.597.2:
The table:cell-range-address attribute specifies the source from which the category labels are taken.

======================================

OFFICE-4134 contains already a solution for chart:series-source attribute (20.54).

Kind regards,
Regina
