Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-4145) questionable wording in 1.5 Non Normative References, part 1
[ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-4145?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=83459#comment-83459 ] Francis Cave commented on OFFICE-4145: -------------------------------------- All parts of ODF, except Part 1, contain non-normative references. However, that might not remain the case in future editions. For example, Part 2 only contains two non-normative references, and it is conceivable (if unlikely) that both might be removed from future editions. I would therefore prefer to avoid the use of "each". Also "the individual parts" suggests all parts, but Part 1 doesn't contain any non-normative references, so saying "the individual parts (each) contain..." sounds contradictory. I would therefore prefer the following wording in Part 1: "Other parts of the OpenDocument specification contain further non-normative references." This by implication (a) excludes Part 1, but specifically doesn't imply _all_ other parts. If this is an acceptable wording, this issue can be closed and moved to GitHub issue #35 (ODF Specification Typo List). > questionable wording in 1.5 Non Normative References, part 1 > ------------------------------------------------------------ > > Key: OFFICE-4145 > URL: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-4145 > Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC > Issue Type: Improvement > Reporter: Regina Henschel > Priority: Minor > Labels: editorial > > The current text in 1.5 Non Normative References in part 1 is: > The individual parts of the OpenDocument specification may contains further non normative references. > Â > I stumble about "may contains". > Â > I could image something like: > The individual parts of the OpenDocument specification each lists its own set of non normative references. > Â > or > Â > The individual parts of the OpenDocument specification contain further non normative references. > Â > It is editorial, but because I'm not sure about a correct wording I have put it into an issue instead of our type list. -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.3#803004)
