Note there is also the "User-Defined Index" (text:user-index) which allows to assign paragraph styles to levels, and also allows "Tables", "Graphics" etc.

in contrast to the indexes in the description, where the entries are generated based on text fields, for the User-Defined Index the entries are generated based on the actual objects.

for example, if you insert an image in Writer, the image itself will become an entry in an User-Defined Index with "Graphics" enabled, but it will not become an entry in a "Table of Figures" until you use the "Insert Caption" feature on the image (technically the paragraph containing the field becomes the entry, not the image).
