Subject: Problems posting nominations?
Several people have had trouble posting nomination emails to the pki-ms@lists.oasis-open.org list. As with most OASIS email lists, you must be subscribed to the list to post. But all employees of corporate members are eligible to run for this office and many of them are not subscribed to that list. Oh, well. We can overcome this minor problem. If you have run into any trouble posting a nomination to the pki-ms list, please forward the nomination to me and I'll post it for you. Thanks, Steve -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [pki-tc] Call for Nominees - PKI Member Section Steering Committee Date: Tue, 04 May 2004 10:54:05 -0400 From: Sabo, John T <John.T.Sabo@ca.com> To: pki-ms@lists.oasis-open.org CC: pki-tc@lists.oasis-open.org This is a call for nominees for electing the five-person PKI Member Section Steering Committee. I'm attaching a Word version of the following announcement, which also includes the charter of the PKI MS. Please let me know if there are any questions on the nomination/election process. Thanks, John Sabo NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR NOMINEES for PKI MEMBER SECTION STEERING COMMITTEE We are seeking nominees willing to stand for election to the PKI Members Section Steering Committee. The Steering Committee consists of five (5) seats. BACKGROUND: The OASIS PKI Member Section emerged from the PKI Forum, established in 1999 to foster support for standards-based, interoperable public-key infrastructure (PKI) as a foundation for secure transactions in e-business applications. The purpose of the PKI Member Section Steering Committee is to: a. Coordinate the activities of OASIS technical committees that are part of the Member Section (i.e. the SC serves the purpose of an OASIS Joint Committee); b. Promote the adoption and implementation of specifications developed by PKI TCs, including directing the creation of implementation guidelines, conformance tests, white papers, etc. by PKI TCs; c. Promote PKI technology in general through appropriate marketing efforts, and own and maintain the PKI identity as part of that effort. ELIGIBILITY: Steering Committee members may be corporate members of the PKI Member Section who are in good standing as eligible OASIS participants. NOMINATION PROCESS: Members interested in serving on the Steering Committee and standing for election shall provide notice of their intention to run by sending an email to the PKI MS mailing list, pki-ms@lists.oasis- open.org, and include a statement of their intention to run and any other information they believe will describe their interest and qualifications. Nominations will be accepted until 10AM, Eastern Daylight Time, May 18, 2004. Where an individual is nominated by another member, the nominee shall provide notice of their willingness to serve on the Steering Committee by that deadline. ELECTION: Following close of the nomination period, a formal ballot will be established and open for a two week period. Five Steering Committee seats will be filled. Each organizational member of the PKI Member Section will get one vote in this election. Individual Members and OASIS members who are not PKI MS members may not vote. That is, only those OASIS organizational members who had designated PKI Member Section support at the time of joining OASIS or at renewal are eligible to vote. The OASIS administration team has recently synchronized the PKI MS group to their accounting records, so any company that committed to the PKI Member Section has a representative on the list. We suggest that eligible members review the PKI Member Section members list to ensure that the appropriate individual is designated as a MS voting member. This list is available at _http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/pki-ms/members/roster.php_ Individual members of the PKI Member Section interested in voting can upgrade from Individual Member status to Organizational Member status by submitting the organization member application --with PKI support clicked-- and notify member_services@oasis-open.org that they wish to convert to an organizational member. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If additional information is desired on the responsibilities of Steering Committee members, background on the PKI Member Section, or election issues, we will address those issues by email and can set up a teleconference to address questions and provide more information. ------------------------------------------------------------------ John T.
