Subject: [glossary] ponderings
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Folks, Artifact, Composition, Installable Unit, Package, Physical Package, Physical Package Contents, Payload, Product, Resource, Software Package, Solution. These are all terms we have used over the last few months. I think these are all either a file, or a group of files. The differences are semantic, but all are in actuality a "bag-o-bits". It would be helpful if we could come to an agreement as to what term (a noun) we want to use to refer to the "bag o bits" whose deployment process we are describing. I would personally suggest that the term we use for "bag-o-bits" not be contextual. For example, a file can be a resource, or package, or solution, depending on the viewpoint of the installer. The term we pick to refer to "bag-o-bits" should stand alone. The viewpoint is the framework of the descriptor.
