Subject: Re: [ubl-dev] How to 'glue' two instances having different schemas?

Mmm. XOP all seems to hinge around the reliability
of a URI which references something in a MIME
message. How persistent is that URI? It seems
to require that the actual MIME message for the
payload be archived and be available to downstream
processes. How realistic is that in electronic trade?

Personally I think there is likely to be less software
ability to refer back to the MIME message for its
MIME Content-IDs and it seems unreasonable to
expect this in systems. It would be like expecting
clerks of the paper process to keep all the envelopes,
compliment slips, etc for invoices and catalogue
which envelope went with which document. This
is especially unreasonable if there are all sorts of
standards operating for the envelopes and inclusions
and again in electronic terms there are likely to be
a few using XOP, others relying on use of a
StandardBusinessDocument, some using ebMS,
some using the WS-stack but many using just XML
files attached to secure emails. It would have to
be an expensive bit of software to cater for all this if
it was important to keep MIME information, as
compared to software just having to keep the lowest
common denominator - namely the payload XML.

All the best

Steve
