Subject: Re: [ubl-dev] Location ABIE/BBIE
Looks like no-one was game enough to reply earlier so I will give my assessment. We do not plan on creating synonyms as we did with 'Location'. It was an oversight and failure of our controlled vocabulary. As you say, technically not a problem but conceptually it is not a good idea. From memory, when the idea of creating the Location ABIE came up we forgot we had a Storage. Location BBIE. We did notice this at the last minute but felt it not significant enough to delay roll out of the specification. It isnt something we can change in a 2.1 release because it would break backward compatibility. So we are stuck with this but it will stay as a reminder to us not to do it again. Is this something which should be corrected in a next release (2.0.1 or 2.1) or is it just the first occurrence of something which will become general when UBL library grows? > > > >This is not a problem on a message level (different namespaces) or on a registry level (different dictionary entry names), however, I feel it's something which should be avoided. > > > >Regards, > > > >Juha Ikävalko > >TIEKE Tietoyhteiskunnan kehittämiskeskus ry >TIEKE Finnish Information Society Development Centre >Salomonkatu 17 A, 10th floor FI-00100 Helsinki >Tel +358 9 4763 0410 Fax +358 9 4763 0399 >juha.ikavalko@tieke.fi http://www.tieke.fi <http://www.tieke.fi> > > > > > > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >No virus found in this incoming message. >Checked by AVG Free Edition. >Version: 7.1.409 / Virus Database: 268.14.16/551 - Release Date: 25/11/2006 > > > -- regards tim mcgrath phone: +618 93352228 postal: po box 1289 fremantle western australia 6160 web: http://www.portcomm.com.au/tmcgrath
