Subject: UBL in UK eGIF
UBL achieved a significant boost in the UK recently with the release of Version 5.0 of the Technical Policies and Specifications portion of the UK Government's e-Government Interoperability Framework (eGIF). The full document, dated 25 April, can be found on the web site of the UK Office of the e-Envoy. Specifications available for application in various areas of the eGIF are rated in order of decreasing recommendation as "Adopted," "Recommended for consideration," "Under review by an ad-hoc group," or "For future consideration." In the category of specifications for "e-commerce purchasing" and "e-commerce purchasing logistics," no specifications are currently given the status of "Adopted," and the only ones that achieve the status of "Recommended for consideration" are UBL, ebXML messaging, ebXML Reg/Rep, and ebXML Core Components.
