Subject: Minutes from Atlantic Conference Call - 02 December 2004
A shortened teleconference occurred with the following attendees: Marion Royal Ken Holman Sylvia Webb Ken Sall Marty Burns Paul Thorpe Tony Coats Mike Grimely Jessica Glace Mark Johnson Monica Martin Marion Royal led the discussion and collected these notes Code List Subcommittee Mary Burns reported that he and Tony had been exchanging email to determine the requirements for the 1.1 release. Once they obtain a consensus, they will share the document with the wider audience for approval. Action - Marty is to create milestones and publish to the list. TB17 Marion Royal reported that the TBG17 meeting is next week in West Palm Beach, Florida HISC Ken Holman stated that he is having difficulties getting quorum on the their teleconferences, but that they have been discussing how the work on the input side can progress. The "geeks" are ready to do their technical work, but the need to know what people want to see. They want to focus on determining the requirements and create formal input specifications so that the output may be achieved through a variety of mechanisms. Thus, the goal is not to produce XForms or Adobe documents, but to make sure that everything needed is collected during the input side. The team needs help from the UBL members to understand the requirements in total. Ken Sall asked if anyone had tried to take the UBL schemas and use Adobe Forms Designer. Ken replied that they had not tried. With so many elements per order line, its difficult to know which are important. It was suggested that an email request for more input be sent to the full mail list. No other Liaison or SCs reported Marion suggested that we table discussion of the issues on the agenda because we were missing some key people. There was no objection and we went into general discussion. General discussion Jessica Glace expressed some concern regarding work they have been doing and problems when trying to flatten the schemas. When you have modular schema, it's not difficult to flatten the included files that do not have a namespace, but she has run into problems when each module has its own namespace. Sylvia Webb said that the software subcommittee has noted this and there were ways to avoid the problems when using the EDIFIX tool. Ken Sall questioned the process of registering new acronyms and abbreviations. It was suggested that he send the question to the mail list in order to get a complete answer. The call ended at 11:30 Eastern US time. Marion A. Royal 202.208.4643 (Office) 202.302.4634 (Mobile)
