Subject: Minutes of Pacific UBL TC call 10|11 December 2007
MINUTES OF PACIFIC UBL TC MEETING TUESDAY 11 DECEMBER 2007 ATTENDANCE Jon Bosak (chair) G. Ken Holman Andy Schoka Sylvia Webb STANDING ITEMS Additions to the calendar: http://ibiblio.org/bosak/ubl/calendar.htm None. Liaison reports None. Subcommittee report: TSC AS: Met two weeks ago and had a very productive session. TM presented on additions to the UBL library in 2.1 needed to accommodate Danish transportation requirements. SUPPORT PAGE SUBMISSION It's been requested that we add the following to the "UBL-related contributions from academia" section: [2007.xx.yy] Survey of UBL interest and deployment This online survey of UBL interest and deployment was created by the University of Frankfurt in the context of the European ABILITIES project and is designed to measure real-world use of the UBL Standard. The site provides both an opportunity to participate in the survey and public access to the survey results. http://www.viewzone.org/survey/index.php?sid=1 AGREED. 2008 TC WORK SCHEDULE Revised spreadsheets now available: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200712/msg00000.html ACTION: JB to check with the LSCs regarding this schedule. UPDATE PACKAGE: JPLSC COMMENTS We finished processing the comments; now we need to start tracking status of responses from PSC and TSC. In the absence of TM, this is deferred till next week. UPDATE PACKAGE: GC FILE FORMAT Please note this from the last Pacific call minutes: Can other members of the UBL TC identify code list files that would be improved by additional metadata? 2008 TC MEETING SCHEDULE 28 Jan - 1 Feb 2008 in Manhattan Confirmed. 101 Park Avenue. April 2008 in Rome (together with UBL International Day) 14-18 April is the week now under consideration. This is not yet confirmed but is approaching finalization. 4-8 August 2008 in Montréal Confirmed. Hotel Europa, rue Drummond (the week prior to the Balisage conference in the same location). January 2009 in Fremantle Still tentative. NOVEMBER-JANUARY TC CONCALL SCHEDULE Week of 12/17 Regular schedule Week of 12/24 Skip Week of 12/31 Skip Week of 01/07 Regular schedule Week of 01/14 Regular schedule Week of 01/21 Skip Week of 01/28 Manhattan F2F Week of 02/04 Skip Week of 02/11 Regular schedule OTHER BUSINESS GKH: Request that we include ISO Public Subject Indicators (PSIs) for all UBL constructs as a deliverable for UBL 2.1. Background: a PSI is a URI that resolves to a human-readable document describing a particular semantic, thus enabling the subject to be unambiguously referenced in a Topic Map (ISO 13250). JB committed to providing PSIs for UBL 1.0 a couple of years ago but didn't find the resources to do it. Assuming that the semantics of UBL 2 will not change during the 2.x life cycle (modulo minor corrections to the definitions), we propose to create official PSIs for every UBL construct. AGREED to add this item to the list of deliverables with GKH as the person who will synthesize about 2000 XHTML pages from spreadsheets, each page keyed to a unique Dictionary Entry Name (DEN) and representing the columns of each entry as bullets on its PSI page, the pages to eventually be archived at psi.oasis-open.org/ubl2/ (see psi.oasis-open.org for the beginnings of the OASIS PSI repository). ################################################################## TRACKING ITEMS ################################################################## UPDATE PACKAGE Methodology: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200710/msg00027.html http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200711/msg00006.html PACIFIC ACTION ITEMS FROM MANHATTAN (MAY 2007) ACTION: PSC and TSC to provide feedback on UBL 2.0 SBS 2.0: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/23873 Pending. ACTION: PSC and TSC to summarize business rules that are (1) wanted in UBL but not allowed by [i.e., capable of being addressed by] the NDR (e.g., requirement to include one of PartyName and PartyIdentifier but not both) and (2) data items whose constraints are inherited from another standard (e.g., lengths of data items specified by UNTDED); the rules so identified to become candidates for a list of schematron assertions "recommended to be included" (final characterization TBD). Pending. Jon Bosak Chair, OASIS UBL TC
