Subject: Minutes of Pacific UBL TC call 17|18 December 2007
MINUTES OF PACIFIC UBL TC MEETING TUESDAY 18 DECEMBER 2007 ATTENDANCE Jon Bosak (chair) G. Ken Holman Tim McGrath (vice chair) Andy Schoka STANDING ITEMS Additions to the calendar: http://ibiblio.org/bosak/ubl/calendar.htm None. Subcommittee report: TSC AS: Will not meet till the new year. Review of Atlantic call No comments. Support page submissions None this week. UPDATE PACKAGE: JPLSC COMMENTS "We finished processing the comments; now we need to start tracking status of responses from PSC and TSC." TM: The issues sent to PSC have not yet been resolved. ACTION: TM to resend points together with proposed solutions. ACTION: AS to get answer from TSC regarding JPLSC comment 25. UBL 2.1 ISSUES LIST (resulting from item above) TM: We need to restart the issues list for 2.1. ACTION: JB to ask BH to start up a fresh database. ACTION: TM to populate the new issues list with all currently known UBL 2.1 issues. UPDATE PACKAGE: CODE LISTS TM: Working on revising the code lists. ATG2 has updated the versions hardwired into the UDT module. JB: We shouldn't be continuing to use that code list methodology anyway. TM: Propose that we collaborate with UN/CEFACT ICG (which is responsible for all the UNECE recommended code lists) and OASIS CLR TC to build definitive genericode versions of the UNECE code lists. GKH: This would allow us to eliminate "cefact" as a separate code list category (leaving "default" and "special-purpose"). ACTION: JB to check with TonyC in the Atlantic call regarding the scope of his work with ICG and his willingness to participate in a planning conference with ICG to be arranged by TM. 2008 TC MEETING SCHEDULE 28 Jan - 1 Feb 2008 in Manhattan Confirmed. 101 Park Avenue. April 2008 in Bologna (together with UBL International Day) 14-18 April is the week now under consideration. NOTE the correction from previous minutes (which put the meeting in Rome). GKH: That's the proposed venue for the F2F. UBL International Day will take place in Rome. 4-8 August 2008 in Montréal Confirmed. Hotel Europa, rue Drummond (the week prior to the Balisage conference in the same location). January 2009 in Fremantle Still tentative. NOVEMBER-JANUARY TC CONCALL SCHEDULE Week of 12/24 Skip Week of 12/31 Skip Week of 01/07 Regular schedule Week of 01/14 Regular schedule Week of 01/21 Skip Week of 01/28 Manhattan F2F Week of 02/04 Skip Week of 02/11 Regular schedule OTHER BUSINESS JB: Note the new EU initiative at semic.eu. GKH: See summary of the PSI project: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200712/msg00018.html This should not be added to the UBL TC schedule -- it's an independent effort. ACTION: TC to review the summary above and post any comments. AS: Do we plan to add a UBL identifying number to UBL constructs in the Update Package? TM: No, we decided years ago that there would never be a unique identifying number for UBL elements. There is a column in the spreadsheets for the UN/CEFACT number assigned to those CCs to which we map; that will be published, but probably not in time for the Update Package. ################################################################## TRACKING ITEMS ################################################################## UPDATE PACKAGE Methodology: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200710/msg00027.html http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200711/msg00006.html PACIFIC ACTION ITEMS FROM MANHATTAN (MAY 2007) ACTION: PSC and TSC to provide feedback on UBL 2.0 SBS 2.0: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/23873 Pending. ACTION: PSC and TSC to summarize business rules that are (1) wanted in UBL but not allowed by [i.e., capable of being addressed by] the NDR (e.g., requirement to include one of PartyName and PartyIdentifier but not both) and (2) data items whose constraints are inherited from another standard (e.g., lengths of data items specified by UNTDED); the rules so identified to become candidates for a list of schematron assertions "recommended to be included" (final characterization TBD).
