Subject: Minutes of Pacific UBL TC call 24|25 January 2011
MINUTES OF PACIFIC UBL TC MEETING TUESDAY 25 JANUARY 2011 ATTENDANCE Jon Bosak (chair) Anne Hendry G. Ken Holman Tim McGrath (vice chair) STANDING ITEMS Additions to the calendar: http://ubl.xml.org/events None. Review of Atlantic call minutes of 2011.01.05 GKH: Andrea reports that Security SC has approved the latest changes. JB has now been given all the expected text. SGTG will put revised schemas through our acceptance process as soon as eDoCreator has been updated with the changes for PRD2 (still undergoing review in PSC and TSC). All text deliverables from GKH are now complete. Question: will the Security SC document itself be part of the 2.1 package? JB: That is currently the plan of record, but will consider this again for next week's call. UBL 2.1 STATUS TM: PSC meets today to finalize three of the five remaining issues. TSC will probably meet Friday. MESSAGE ENVELOPE High points of the discussion: - A primary use case is the envelope for tender submissions. - AH reports that the OASIS Energy Market Information Exchange (eMIX) TC has identified a similar need for a document containing a bundle of documents (e.g., associated warrants or energy certificates), each with its own metadata, together with a requirement to identify one of the documents in the bundle as primary. - Sweden has confirmed the BII finding that UN/CEFACT SBDH 1.3 will not, in fact, support a bundle of document instances in a single envelope in a way that meets BII business requirements. - AH reports that Stephen Green independently attempted an implementation of SBDH and had to abandon it because of this limitation. Stephen has identified use cases with multiple documents of different types in the same bundle or even the inclusion of non-UBL documents, e.g., the inclusion of an XBRL-GL ledger instance. - It appears that GS1 has had to make its own adaptations to the SBDH, presumably for the same reason. - It is our independent finding that the SBDH as currently specified (xsd:any without maxoccurs unbounded) cannot support multiple document roots as siblings if metadata is associated with each document. This problem could be solved by setting maxoccurs to unbounded, but apparently there are other business requirements that this solution would not address; we are seeking further clarification from BII on this point. ACTION: TM to provide a snapshot of the BII model (with the understanding that this is a work in progress).
