Subject: RE: [wsdm] Draft 0.5, State working paper
Karl, Ellen, As I mentioned on the call today, I took the model and tried to start some markups around it. I'm really looking to get to the core implementation stuff ASAP. Attached is the word document with a resource state manageability capability specification that starts from the UML state model. As you may see I didn't use UML to describe the capability itself and went directly to the angle-brackets. I'm starting to realize that this is the only reasonable approach for 0.5 version of the spec and for the interop event. I suggest that we start using the following approach: 1. UML concepts model (including state models) 2. For every manageability capability specify fragments that clearly define a) property schema [name-type] b) operation messages [XML fragments] c) event schema [name-type] d) possibly reusable type definitions [schema] 3. A document that explains how to assemble the fragments from the item 2 into a WSDL description (possibly with WSRF, WS-Notification, WS-Security, WS-Policy or anything else we pick in the UPlat track). I would be ready to rewrite the MOWS spec this way if the group likes this approach. I think it gets us closer to the gratification. -- Igor Sedukhin .. It reflects the decision to do a simple machine, first definition of operations and a first draft of a UML statechart for the model.
