Subject: RE: [xliff-seg] Tuesday's Meeting Agenda
Hello Magnus, Thanks for the documents. I started the thread on the usage scenario
but did not get any feedback for it, so here it is again if it did not come
thru. I have a class that starts at 8 am this
morning, same time as this meeting so won’t be able to attend. Minutes are ok. If there is a need for somebody to draw
use case, once the scenarios are complete and agreed upon, then I would be
willing to help. -Gérard -----Original Message----- Here is the beginning of thread on user scenarios for segmentation: 1. XLIFF document as a generic file exchange mechanism. Source binary
exported into XLIFF document for localization and imported back with same
initial segmentation to build target binary from it. 2. XLIFF document as file container against which business processes
operate. The xliff document is processed by one tool, then the document is
passed on to the next tool for the next process, etc. The document is not an
exchange medium, but a common file format to allow process agnostic tools to
operate on the same data. Example: localization directives set and validated by
one business process based on the original segmentation of the data, while a
recycling process changes the file segmentation to improve translation
recycling results. Cheers, -Gérard Families are living sanctuaries From: Magnus
