Description
In B2B document exchanges, there is often a requirement for the sender of a business message to be informed about the success or failure of a message transmission. However, the specifics of this requirement vary greatly among different user communities and business processes, and there are many interpretations for “success”. B2B protocols also differ in their level of support for various types of receipt notifications and in whether these receipts support non-repudiation. In addition to messaging protocol messages, there are business protocol messages that have a similar purpose and content. This note provides an overview and comparison of mechanisms to notify message receipt, acceptance and delivery in a variety of B2B protocols.
