Discussion

  1. Outstanding issues from previous meeting
  2. http / MIME issue

Currently seams to be moving toward a special requirement of the MIME handler – epilogues are not allowed in http should the use of prologues be excluded. For SMTP both of these must be supported but the consensus is to follow http rules and allow prologues to be used and it is the recipients responsibility to process or ignore as they wish the sender could expect nothing.

    Add this to the errata.

May want to consider an implantation guideline appendix or non-normative notes to the bindings, this should be considered as part of a review of the bindings.

    Reliable messaging

    Ack and bundling

1 – Possible to send many acks in one message

2 – Possible to send acks and responses in one message

Proposal can not include unrelated acks in a message. This would imply that a single Ack in a message reply or a response message and the Ack to the same original message.

Action Doug to submit the proposal to the list.

Use of status query – normatively

Would have to be mandatory as part of reliable messaging. Suggestion is to allow the use of status check after the maximum number of retries if the CPA show that message status function is supported you may request the status this must be less than the time to live.

Description of guarantees of the protocol

  3. Call Schedule & Hosts –

Suggested every 2 weeks, which was agreed, see below for schedule.

Actions:

  1. Doug to submit the proposal to the list on restricting the combination of Ack and messages etc.
  2. Ian to forward an outline for the errata document to Mike Dillon.
  3. Need volunteers for the call schedule.
