Status update from TC call on Tuesday.

Discussed problem with content model quandary.

div is available in fig in 1.3, so specialization may be able to stay on fig! Would maintain compatibility in element names for existing elements.

Problem may be in the class attributes that are available.

In short term with DITA 1.2 and folks wanting to move forward what should they do?
specialized processing should use the last value in the class attribute.

The specialization is still on fig, so it isn’t relying on div. If you wanted to use div inside some of the specialization, you would have to declare the element model privately in order to use it.

We can provide an advanced (beta) release of the L&T specialization that would have the appropriate element additions and the specialized tag names. we would only see div in some of the class attributes, but with specialized processing we would still be able to process it.

ACTION: Need to update spec doc with new approach.
ACTION: Need to create sample modules and sample content to test out the new additions.
ACTION: Need to create some sample specialized processing.

There are still some items missing that should be addressed in DITA 2.0. (assessments, tests and LMS features)

QTI hasn’t been updated in 5 years, so question about support. it is targeted at delivering to an LMS, not for authors.

Potential standard to look at: PARCC

Try to have a lunch meeting for those attending CIDM in La Jolla, CA?
Amber to coordinate and talk to Joann about setting this up as a Birds of a Feather meeting

Any additional learning samples would be greatly appreciated!

ACTION: add additional samples to the wiki

the old method required the ID attribute. We will make it optional moving forward, so shouldn’t break backwards compatibility.



Agenda

Update on the discussion on feature proposal 13106 at this week's TC meeting.

Discuss the new "option 5" - update the current domain, keeping the question base on fig, but switching the 26 elements from p to div, which gets us the multiple block support we want for those elements, with minimal impact on compatibility.
