3. Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting

Minutes were approved.

4. Review of Action Items

#6 Contact Karl Best (OASIS) together with PubSubj and GeoLang chairs to ask for psi.oasis-open.org (any PSI sets) and psi.xml.org (XMLvoc)
Closed: OASIS provides psi.oasis-open.org for TC's PSIs.
#7 Summarize Use Cases in new document for discussion in mailing list
Seemed to not be needed any longer.
#9 Check Cyc ontology if it could provide any input (see action item #14)
Still open: Eric Freese will check back with Eliot Kimber about his experiences with Cyc regarding XMLvoc topics. New deadline set to March 2003.
#10 Review association types and roles and think about assocs for Vendor/Tool category
Worked on during meeting. Vendor/tool part still open. Lars Marius Garshol and Motomu Naito will provide input. New deadline set to March 2003.

5. Content

  1. Membership issues

    Chair informs that Don Smith and Erik Wilde are new voting members.

  2. Review of already identified types

    Steve Pepper reported about his experiences with the already identified types during the development of the XML Papers topic map. TC discussed his points and asked Steve to modify the LTM file containing the types accordingly.

    Details:

    • Add occurrence type "specification" as subclass of "document". Add note stating that "document" is same as "document" in FOAF (friend of a friend) RDF application.
    • Replace "approval" assoc type by "responsibility".
    • Merge "representation" and "membership" to new assoc type "participation", which has roles "participant" (topic type "person"), "group" (topic type "standards body subdivision" or "standards body"), "representee" (topic type "organization"), "role-in-group" (one of topic types "liason", "convenor", "observer", "member", "invited expert").
    • Build type hierarchy for "liason", "convenor", "observer", "member", "invited expert".
    • Change assoc type "usage" to "dependency".
    • On occurrences, keep "definition", "description", "email", "homepage". Drop the others until TC has come to a conclusion about the vendor / tools PSI.
    • Change underscores "_" used in ids, PSIs, and names to hyphens "-".
    • Change assoc type names from nouns to verbs. Name from the one to the many naming principal - with one to one - indentify the subordinate. If no other reason for choice, choose passive voice with preposition.

    Patrick Durusau volunteered to add description texts for all types after Steve has changed the LTM. Constraints of all assoc types will be described in prose as long as TMCL is not standardized.

  3. Next meeting:

    No next meeting scheduled yet. TC will probably use IRC but wants to wait and see how IRC meeting works for PubSubj TC (28 Jan 2003).
