DocBook XML 5.0alpha1

This is not the current version of DocBook. Please use the current XML version instead.

This is an experimental release of DocBook V5.0.

Version 5.0 introduces a significant number of changes and is not completely backwards-compatible with V4.

It is available as a zip archive.

You can also retrieve the files individually if you prefer:

readme.txt: The DocBook XML V4.1.2 README.
docbookx.dtd: The DocBook XML DTD.
dbpoolx.mod: The DocBook XML DTD “information pool” module.
dbhierx.mod: The DocBook XML DTD “hierarchy” module.
dbnotnx.mod: The DocBook XML DTD “notations” module.
dbcentx.mod: The DocBook XML DTD “character entities” module.
dbgenent.mod: The DocBook XML DTD “general entities” module.
calstblx.dtd: An XML version of the SGML Open CALS Table model.
soextblx.dtd: The OASIS Open XML Exchange Table model. This is an alternate table model for the XML version of DocBook.
docbook.cat: An OASIS catalog for the DocBook SGML DTD.
docbookx.cat: An OASIS catalog for the DocBook XML DTD.
ent/: The ent/ directory contains unofficial XML versions of the ISO entity sets. They are required, but the DocBook TC would prefer not to distribute them as part of DocBook (since the DocBook TC does not maintain them). They are distributed with this release, however, as we have not yet figured out any alternative.
