 OASIS Open Position: XML Standards Specialist / Technical Writer

Job Title: XML Standards Specialist / Technical Writer

Job Description:

OASIS is a non-profit consortium that brings together people from around the world to agree on standard ways of organizing and exchanging information on the Internet and within their businesses. Members include technology, business and government leaders.

Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply for a part-time position working with Robin Cover in the collection, editing, and publication of standards information for the Cover Pages web site (http://xml.coverpages.org/) and for the newsletter, XML Daily Newslink. This assistant will conduct research about XML standards activity, based upon prescribed research objectives, organizing the content in markup format suitable for publication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in production and editing of content for Cover Pages web site and for XML Daily Newslink, an electronic newsletter
  • Assist in the update and reorganization of content on the Cover Pages web site
  • Conduct research about standards activity following written description of research tasks, and provide content in specified (markup) formats

Qualifications

  • Personal and professional interest in XML-related standards, with proof of previous related published work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others — OASIS Staff, external industry experts, and members of the media
  • Proficiency in word processing and experience in the creation of content in HTML/XML markup format

Terms

Part-time candidates will be considered for this contract position. OASIS headquarters is in Billerica, MA, USA, but the successful candidate may work remotely. The compensation package will be specific to experience level.
