Job Title: Executive Director
OASIS is seeking an Executive Director with the experience, skills, insight, strategic vision, and commitment to advancing open standards. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-profile, member-driven, vendor-neutral, software standards organization.
The OASIS Executive Director (ED) reports directly to the OASIS Board of Directors and interacts extensively with the entire Board and staff, as well as OASIS members. The Executive Director has general oversight and executive management responsibilities for the overall business, operational and coordination aspects of OASIS. The ED works with the Board of Directors to develop and evolve the strategic mission of the organization. The ED is expected to represent OASIS in the international arena, serve as an advocate for open standards in matters of policy and adoption, and develop new opportunities to extend the breadth and depth of future OASIS work.
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic vision to develop, update and execute the OASIS multi-year strategic and annual business plans

Develop the organization's budget for approval by the OASIS Board, and manage the organization’s activities to that budget

Drive new membership growth worldwide

Maintain and improve the quality of operational and IT infrastructure support

Report monthly metrics used to measure organizational and operational health

Work with members and staff to provide a high quality environment to support the development of OASIS specifications and other work products

Oversee the establishment and maintenance of liaisons with other standards bodies, industry groups and governments

Maintain high satisfaction among the organization's members

Drive new opportunities by expanding OASIS activities relative to the standardization life cycle

Ensure that OASIS is well represented at major industry meetings and events

Ensure that OASIS is sensitive to the challenges of working across many countries and cultures
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years CEO/CIO/COO/VP/executive management experience. An understanding of the role of IT and the development of IT standards is desirable. While the working language for OASIS is primarily English and much of the day-to-day activity of the organization is based in the USA, knowledge of other languages and/or an understanding and/or experience of working in other countries and multinational organizations will be considered a particular advantage.
Additionally, strong communication skills, demonstrated experience in delivering keynote presentations at conferences, blogging, and the ability to serve as OASIS spokesperson for executive-level briefings with press and analysts are preferred. Experience in working with non-profit and volunteer organizations preferred. Recognition as a leader in the international IT community (especially open standards) preferred.
