New British Smart Cities Specification Uses OASIS Transformational Government Framework, 26 Feb 2014

Volunteers needed to help with translating TGF material - OASIS seeks volunteers to translate a small amount of material on the Transformational Government Framework from English into other languages. We already have a number of non-english versions, see below, but translations into other languages would also be valuable. Interested translators are asked to review the OASIS Translation Policy and contact John Borras (johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk), the chair of the TGF Technical Committee, for more details.

Participation in the OASIS Transformational Government Framework (TGF)TC is open to all interested parties, especially government agencies involved in eGov, eHealth, Emergency Management, and other public sector drivers. eGov Strategy Managers for technology companies should also be involved, along with representatives of consulting companies that support governments in building strategies.

Contact member-services@oasis-open.org for more information on joining the TC.

Overview

The Transformational Government TC advances an overall framework for
using information technology to improve the delivery of public
services. Unlike traditional e-Government strategies of the past,
Transformational Government begins with citizen engagement to assure
greater use and return on investment. The work of the TC includes
defining the framework, identifying use cases, and providing adoption
guidance for governments around the world, regardless of their history
in implementing eGov.

For more information on TGF, see the TC Charter.

Translated Material

To facilitate global adoption, the TC seeks to provide its deliverables in as many languages as possible. The following material has been produced mainly by volunteers for which we are extremely grateful. Some of the more technical terminology is not always easy to translate from English into other languages and whilst we have made every effort to avoid any mistakes we cannot guarantee complete accuracy.

Every effort will be made to provide translations of the new TGF v2.0 as soon as possible. In the meantime we hope the following translations of v1.0 provide useful.

French:
The TGF Core Pattern Language v1.0 CS02 and
The TGF Primer v1.0 CN01

Japanese:
The TGF Primer v1.0 Extract

Norwegian:
The TGF Primer v1.0 Extract

Spanish:
The TGF Primer v1.0 Extract

Ukrainian:

Volunteers interested in translating TGF materials into other languages are asked to contact the TGF TC chair.

Testimonials

"TGF has made a significant strategic impact on our work, particularly the end-to-end benefits mapping, and continues to be hugely valuable to the British Council. Other public bodies would do well to consider it to in putting citizens and the creation of public value at the heart of entrepreneurial 21st century public service." [see full citation]

-- John Worne, Director Corporate HQ, British Council

"We needed to address the fundamental business model through which our agencies work together, in order that the agency silos could deliver truly citizen-centric services. We worked on developing a roadmap to implement the 'Franchise Marketplace solution' recommended by the OASIS TGF. The result--our citizen-facing portal, sa.gov.au--has been incredibly successful at meeting the strategy objectives for higher take-up and higher customer satisfaction. It has provided the foundation for effective multi-channel service delivery and has won numerous awards." [see full citation]

-- Jan McConchie, Director eGovernment, Government Services Group, Department of Premier and Cabinet, Government of South Australia
