Subject: My proposals for top DITA issues
During the meeting we discussed the idea of making a very short list of 1.1 features to get an earlier update of DITA out the door. I was asked to be more concrete in my proposal along those lines. My proposal is based on the principle that features that users are already "hacking" should be high priority. Therefore, my list is: ==== #20 Extensible metadata attributes * customers ask for it and the current situation is just not workable for many #38 Bookmap / bkinfo revision * in widespread quasi-standard use already * often requested by customers #35 Support foreign content vocabularies such as MathML and SVG * MathML in particular is very popular, and has been hacked by XMetaL customers ==== I think that if we added a few more that I've missed, we could have a nice short list of urgent features that could be implemented by the summer instead of the end of the year or later. Bookmap is a meaty enough project to make a smaller 1.1 still substantial effort and substantial benefit. Paul Prescod
