Subject: [Fwd: [ekmi] Potential off-OASIS discussion]
I apologize to the rest of the potential KMIP TC members; rightfully, this e-mail should have gone out to all KMIP potential members at the same time. Arshad Noor StrongAuth, Inc. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [ekmi] Potential off-OASIS discussion Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2009 11:25:30 -0800 From: Arshad Noor <arshad.noor@strongauth.com> Organization: StrongAuth, Inc. To: robert.griffin@rsa.com CC: mark.schiller@hp.com, drsecure@us.ibm.com, ekmi <ekmi@lists.oasis-open.org> References: <4995C09B.9070104@strongauth.com> <748CA8A08F953C489E23A29CD1EA3935055977D3@CORPUSMX10A.corp.emc.com> Bob/Mark/Tony, Unless one of you happened to be a silent observer on the EKMI TC call - or unless Robin from OASIS reported back to you all - you may or may not know that there was near unanimous consensus (one member withheld his opinion since he has not read the KMIP charter yet) in the EKMI TC that the KMIP TC's charter overlaps the EKMI TC's. Notwithstanding that, the EKMI TC believes that there is much to be gained with a discussion between the convenors of the KMIP TC and the EKMI TC members. However, understanding OASIS policy, this discussion is NOT a formal OASIS discussion, but an informal discussion between the convenors and individual EKMI TC members to discuss your charter and the position of the EKMI TC. The objectives of the discussion are: 1) To understand the rationale for why the KMIP TC convenors believe that the EKMI TC charter cannot accommodate the goals of the KMIP TC; 2) To discuss potential ways in which the KMIP TC can join the EKMI TC so that OASIS puts out a consistent message wrt key-management. Are you (and other convenors of the KMIP TC) open to such an informal discussion? Any part of the discussion will neither be binding on the KMIP TC convenors nor the EKMI TC (unless they choose to make a motion and vote on it in a formal OASIS setting later on). Thanks.
