Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (ODATA-623) 11:4.3: be more specific on updating key properties
[ https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-623?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=36939#comment-36939 ] Michael Pizzo commented on ODATA-623: ------------------------------------- No; the reference to updating a key property is wrong. The intention was to say that, changing an updatable principle property results in the dependent property being updated; *not* that you can change a key. The intent has always been that key properties are non-updatable. Propose: change text: "Updating a key property that is tied to a dependent entity through a referential constraint on the dependent entity updates the dependent property." to: "Updating a principle property that is tied to a dependent entity through a referential constraint on the dependent entity updates the dependent property." > 11:4.3: be more specific on updating key properties > --------------------------------------------------- > > Key: ODATA-623 > URL: https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-623 > Project: OASIS Open Data Protocol (OData) TC > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: OData Protocol > Affects Versions: V4.0_OS > Environment: [Proposed] > Reporter: Ralf Handl > Fix For: V4.0_ERRATA01 > > > Paragraph 5 of http://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata/v4.0/os/part1-protocol/odata-v4.0-os-part1-protocol.html#_Toc372793719 explicitly allows updating key properties and describes side-effects to dependent entities. Unfortunately it does not mention that > Paragraph 6 still starts with "Key and other non-updatable properties", implying that key properties are not updatable. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.1.1#6155)
