Subject: Re: [staff-bizdev-workshops] A frank talk with ChatGPT

I read it through.  That's pretty handy, within its limits.  Hard to form a quick opinion about its "voice," or whether its tone would evidence a degree of expertise and credibility to other experts.

Honestly, as a lawyer, I'm pretty attuned to word choice and persuasive writing.
There's usually a point of view, or an objective, in persuasive writing.  Not sure how that applies here  :)
It's interesting to consider whether the easy availability of tools like this will reduce the willingness of various enterprises and projects to put human time (and money) into creating text, in the hope that it's somehow better.
When I was a teenager, there was a whole fire storm over with weather having pocket calculators in the classroom, impaired school children's'  learning of arithmetic ability
No, I guess we'll get debates whether OpenAI teaches students that they don't need to learn how to write? Or research?

Because our staff meeting last Thursday was canceled, we haven't had as much of a chance as I'd like to talk about how this project will work.

Sorry to say, it's probably a little early to conclude that we can have AI do it for us, instead of putting some individual thought pieces.

I sat down to have a conversation with ChatGPT about market challenges to the circular economy. You have undoubtedly heard about Chat in the news, good, bad, and alarming. Well, I thought I would see how it could support our Visioneering program. The conversation we had was as enlightening to the capabilities of the software as it was educational about the project at hand.

How did it go? See for yourself: here is the transcript of our conversation:

Now I'm not suggesting we get lazy and use the bot to phone it in. But, in 20 minutes and with a few leading questions, I got a jump start on the market research, including a discussion of market challenges and failures, a discourse on the opportunities for standards, and 14 key thought leaders in the space.

Have a read and tell me what you think. I'm already formulating more questions to probe into specifics. This may well be a tool we can use to prepare the materials to guide the workshops.

Perhaps I can do a demo at the next team call?
