From the May 13 meeting notes. The meeting continued with a discussion about the ASN.1 format and its place in the specification. Jacob provided an overview of past discussions about moving the ASN.1 format into its own specification, similar to what OData has done. This would allow the SC to proceed with substantive changes to the ASN.1 format without affecting the base specification. In addition the JSON format could also be created as its own specification. Jacob noted that a decision needed to be made on what direction to take in order to allow the Errata draft work to proceed. Rex noted that Elysa and other members who may be interested in the decision were not on the call. Jacob suggested a ballot vote could allow members who were not in attendance to weigh in on the decision and the group agreed.
The motion, to initiate a ballot vote, open to all SC members for 1 week, to approve moving the ASN.1 format to its own specification, was put forward. Rex moved and it was seconded by Norm. All agreed with the motion and it passed. |
