Description The Open Smart Grid Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) is an industry-led initiative under the Open Smart Grid (OpenSG) subcommittee within the UCA International Users Group (UCAIug). The OpenADR Task Force defines systems requirements, policies and principles, best practices, and services, required for business and data requirements for standardizing control and pricing signals for Demand Response (DR) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) as part of the Smart Grid implementation. OpenADR, as an open user group forum, is developing a set of utility-ratified requirements and specifications for utilities and 3rd Parties to adopt and implement. The end-state of this effort will contribute to the development of open and interoperable Demand Response solutions.
The OpenADR Service Definition is based on the functional requirements, architectural principles and patterns, common information requirements defined in the OpenADR 1.0 System Requirements Specification, and CIM Standards as defined in the IEC 61968 and 61970. In addition to providing industry solutions, the goal is to contribute to the development of international standards based on this work; in particular, the IEC 61968 Standards.
